You live hoping that this is not the case, however the fact that this is possible is unavoidable. This is why it is important to not just aim for the goal but also live for the journey. No matter what, the journey will always be fulfilling and if you focus on that, you will never ever die disappointed.

In all likelihood, I will never see my dream zoo, yet alone kick start its creation. However, the preparation that such an ambitious goal demands is so fulfilling that it is worth going through all of the trouble just for that. In the end, I am sure I will be looking back on this and admiring all that I did, learned, and experienced, a journey caused by the dreaming up of a single brilliant idea.

Super Mario is a great example of a character who lives for the journey. The goal of his quests is almost always to save Princess Peach from Bowser, and accomplish this he always does. However, if saving the princess was the only thing that gamers could gain from playing Mario games, then gamers would not play Mario games. This is because gamers do not play these games to save a fictional character; they play it for the enjoyment of overcoming the challenges that the games present. In other words, they are playing Mario games for the excitement and thrill of Mario's journey to accomplish his goal of rescuing Princess Peach. Treat your journeys the same way, and you will live happy.
