The best way to learn about something is usually to immerse yourself in a subject's domain and then observe the normal rhythms of the subject. For example, if you want to understand how Spanish is used in Spain, then the most certain way of accomplishing that is to go to Spain and live the life, observing the actions of others along the way. You will certainly learn how to speak Spanish and what Spain's culture is like by the time you are through with the experience. Observe to the Max, and you will understand.

STUDYING THE WILDLIFE OF MY BACKYARD

From 2013 to 2018, I lived in a mobile home in Topanga, California that was situated at the edge of the woods. It was a wildlife haven, and I saw bobcats, coyotes, foxes, and deer within the first month of living there. With my interests in animals maturing and all of this wildlife being visible from my bedroom, I decided to spend my whole Summer in 2016 photographing and observing the wildlife that inhabited my backyard. I learned what species were most common, how they lived, and what habitats they preferred. I became extremely sensitive to the signs of animal life and picked up key field skills that have remained with me ever since.
